Rules
A. Code of Law
To play this game you have to follow the rules listed in the Code of Law. If you do not follow them you will be punished according at our discretion. You will be informed which punishment is selected. If you persist in breaking the rules you will be considered a griefplayer and you will be banned.
I. Substansive Law
1. Do not spam.
Spam is flooding the chat screen. It can be done by normal talking, /tell, /shout, /me or non-verbal ways like /bow, /wave or casting light on another player. It is in most cases annoying and absolutely unnecessary although it can be even dangerous for a player if he misses an important message like a spell running out message. Using all caps is considered spam too.
2. Do not show disrespectful behaviour against an admin or a fellow player.
Even if you strongly dislike another player or admin, keep this opinion to yourself. Disrespectful means downgrading comments to him or about him. You may show your opinion about him of course just keep it to a non-aggressive level.
3. Do not make derogative ethnic, religious or social comments.
This means downgrading comments about race, religion or origin.
4. Do not use offensive language.
Offensive language means the usage of swear words through any way of uttering be it normal chat, shouts or anything else. You may use it in tells as much as you want if both players agree to it.
5. Do not multi-log.
You multilog if you are using more than one character with the same ip at the same time. Two computers with the same ip is considered multilogging too if there are not two "real" players playing. If you want to use two computers to play with another "real" player at the same place, you have to inform the administration about it by writing an email to gods@mercadia.net in which you describe your request.
6. Do not intentionally lag out.
You are not allowed to exit the game client by another ways than the intended ones which are entering a tavern spot, clicking on exit or using F12. This means no lagging out for convenience, for spells or to avoid death.
7. Do not use macros.
Macroing means to use a method or a program to keep you logged in or actively do something for you while you are away from keyboard.
8. Do not impersonate an admin.
This means to gull other players to think that you are an admin by simple lying, fake shouting, create characters with resembling names or any other method.
9. Do not lead non-player characters.
This includes both leading NPCs to let them ambush other players, like getting Mad Hermit into town or trapping NPCs to prevent other players from getting to them, like hiding the Garg Mage.
10. Do not lead player characters to areas where they could not survive on their own.
You are allowed to support low rankers within reason, of course. If you get a Sergeant Major to Ankh Amulet then no one will object. What you are not allowed to do is, for example, to get a Staff Sergeant to Brig pents so that he "just can grab one". This will not be tolerated.
11. Do not give or trade quest items.
The quests are there to be done by the one who returns the quest item. If a new player gets rushed this way through the quests then he will not learn how to play the game. And if you are an experienced player, well, then you should be even more able to do the quests with your new alt on your own.
12. Do not intentionally kill non-purple characters.
If a player choses to be a follower of Skua then you are not allowed to actively support that he dies, by dropping monsters or any other method, regardless if you are Purple or Skua. You are not required, on the other hand, to interfere if you happen to see someone dieing, though it would be nice if you would help him.
13. Do not abuse a bug. Report it if you notice it.
You are required to report every occurence that could be a bug and to not abuse it.
14. Do not alter the game data in any other way than it is intended via the game client.
Play the game as it is intended to be and do not use any other method to manipulate the game data.
15. Do not spell up or heal a purple player if your character is non-purple.
Followers of Skua are not allowed to interfere in purple fights by spelling them up, healing them or act in any other active supporting way.
16. Do not ask another players to send you their .moa file and do not ask for their password.
If you do share a character you run the risk of sharing any Punishments given to that player.
17. Do not griefplay, i.e. do not play this game only to annoy and to trouble.
If you give the impression that you do not play for the sake of playing rather you play so that you are able to disrupt the community then you will be considered Griefplayer.
18. Do obey a direct command of an admin.
If you get a direct command of an admin, i.e. "Do" or Do not" then you are required to obey Without discussing.
II. Procedural Law
1. These rules are applicable for the game and the forum. It will be punished in both places if deemed necessary.
So if you get banned in the game you will be most likely get banned in the forum as well and vice versa. There will be no more threads from players banned in the game solely made to agitate the community.
2. If a shared character is guilty of a breach of law, this char and all other chars of the players who participated in the sharing of the offending char can be punished.
Sharing is frowned upon. If you chose to do it you will be held responsible for everything the other players who you share with do.
3. The game and the forum are privately owned. You have no "right" to play this game, you are our invited guests. If we choose to "uninvite" an individual, because he is damaging to the community, even if he did not break one of the above rules, it is at our discretion.
This is our house. If you stress our patience and we decide that our hospitality is at an end, we will show you the door.
B. Code of Conduct
This is a small guideline on how you should behave.
1. Try to be nice and likeable to your fellow players.
2. Try to help your fellow players, especially the new players, if there is need.
3. During a grave retrieval in pents it is not required of you to stop penting. Though it would be courteous if you stopped.
4. Do not ask an admin to poof you around, spell you up, give exp, luck or items to you nor demand any other kind of favouring.
5. If you have something to tell or report to an admin, use gods@mercadia.net. If you want to report it in the game, do not shout for a god or an imp, report it to a staffer. He will try to resolve your problem or forward it to an upper instance if necessary.
6. If you are told by an imp or god that a decision is final then it is FINAL. If you are told by a staffer, imp or god that he will look into the case and you will get informed then you will get INFORMED. If you peddle other members of the administration about the same case then it will be declined
